  • Training Groups Listing: GBSA 2010-2011:

    Greetings GBSA!!!
    Below is the listing of names in each group. Please now email me your intended practice schedule and I will get back to you ASAP with either a confirmation or a need to adjust based on pool space on a given night. MINIS: remember that there are two one hour sessions per evening you swim. You may have to go a later practice but still get the same night.

    Registration will occur next week beginning Wed., 9/8. At that time we will need a team registration and USA Swimming registration form filled out for ALL swimmers. We will need to see the Birth Certificate or Passport for all swimmers new to USA Swimming.
    We also will need two checks. The first will be for $245 (registration) PLUS at least the first month of the first quarter. The second will be for the $35 concessions donation required for EACH SWIMMER. Both checks are to be made to GBSA.

    IMPORTANT DATE!!! Wednesday, 9/15 we will have Metro Swim Shop at the pool lobby for suits and apparel sizing/ordering. All swimmers MUST have a team suit. Any other items are optional. If you need a cap you will get that from me; I buy them from Metro then keep them in stock... The time for this sizing will be 4:30-6:30pm. If you cannot make it that night you will need to get down to Metro by Friday, 9/17, in order to get your suit delivered before the first meets. Swimmers who have suits that still fit from last year do not need to order new ones.

    ATTENTION GBSA!
    Tomorrow night, Monday 8/30/2010 WILL RUN AS SCHEDULED FOR TRYOUTS AND PRACTICE!

    I MADE A MENTAL ERROR REGARDING TUESDAY HOWEVER!!! CLASSES START AT CCBC ON MONDAY AND WE CANNOT GO PAST 6:30 ON TUESDAY, 8/31!!
    PLEASE PASS ON TO ALL TEAM AND TRYOUT FAMILIES YOU KNOW!!
    TRYOUTS WILL RUN FROM 5:45-6:30pm FOR ALL AGES!!!
    NO PRACTICE 7-8PM!!!

    We WILL have practice for SRS/BLS and summer swimmers on Wednesday, 9/1/2010. Wednesday practice will be from 5:45 to 6:45pm for SRS/BLS and summer swimmers. This will be the last GBSA practice until Wednesday, 9/8/2010. At that time all families will come to their first scheduled practice and register!

  • Sunday Stroke Clinic Registration: September 1, 2010

    The Fall 2010 Sunday Stroke Clinic will open for registration on Wednesday, 9/1/2010 at 10am.

    This year registration will be done online at a URL that will be announced that morning.

    Classes will begin Sunday, September 12th. We will run nine (9) classes over 10 Sundays – taking Sunday, 9/19 off – ending Sunday 11/14. This year registration will be done online (URL TBA). Registration will open on September 1, 2010 – look for postings at gbsaswim.org for an exact time!!! 1 and 2pm classes will be available; when those fill 3pm will open if necessary.

    Groups will be as follows:
    1. Beginners: Ages 4 & up meeting from 1:00 -1:45 p.m.
    Cost: $80.00
    Level I: Children must be able to get in the water without parents.
    Level II: Children must be able to push off the wall and kick to the instructor and be able to blow bubbles.

    2. Intermediate: Ages 5 & up meeting from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m.
    Cost: $110.00
    Level I: Children must be able to swim 15 yards of freestyle with their face in the water and be able to kick on their back.
    Level II: Children must be able to swim 25 yards of freestyle and backstroke.

    3. Competitive: Ages 6 & up meeting from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m.
    Cost: $110.00
    Level I: Children must be able to swim 25 yards of freestyle with proficient lateral breathing and 25 yards of backstroke and have some knowledge of breast stroke.
    Level II: Children must be able to swim 25’s and 50’s repeatedly as well as have a competent breaststroke.
